Presentation of Learning

The final event for the entire semester was the Presentation of Learning (PoL), which was an event set up for our class where we would have an opportunity to present our technology major projects that we had been working on all semester. I was most excited to see what my peers had been working on, but it was also nice to be able to show my ideas to a few parents and music educators.
The event ran for about 3 hours, and there were a number of people from my course who got up to present in front of everyone. Their presentations included documentaries, film music compositions, music business investigations, coding programs, DAW-based composition and music videos, all of which were really interesting and well presented. I was especially interested in hearing from the presenters who wrote a whole unit of study based on free browser-based music software. There's definitely a lot of potential in that idea! I could absolutely see how that would be immediately applicable in classroom situations, particularly when you are at a school without a budget for music software, or perhaps even dedicated music computers.
For those of us who didn't present up the front, we arranged ourselves around the room and members of the public were able to come and listen to us present our ideas. I had two main groups of people who came to hear me explain my website, and it was great being able to finally show my work to some other music educators. (Reminder: you can check out my website here.) Ultimately, I just hope that it gets used by some music teachers and that it is a helpful resource for them!
And that's it for me for this semester! I'm off to enjoy my holidays, but I'll probably be back with some more ideas over the summer.
Bye!
